Do you like chocolate? I love it so much that I started putting it on my face. This chocolate mask is suitable for all skin types and is multifunctional. It whitens and moisturizes the skin, removes acne and soothes redness. It exfoliates and helps with the rapid healing of scars.

To make the chocolate mask, you need only 3 ingredients –  cocoa, yogurt, and honey.

It is very possible you have all of them in your kitchen.

However, before we make the mask, I will tell you why I chose these three ingredients and what they do to your skin.

So cocoa is not only for eating but also amazing for the skin. Cocoa is known to be a powerful antioxidant that reduces signs of aging and basically blocks free radicals (environmental toxins, cigarette smoke, household chemicals) that can damage skin cells.

Cocoa is potent in antioxidant flavanoids which are called flavanols. Flavanols can help repair skin damage caused by UV sunlight. Also cocoa is great for healing acne scars. Because of its high levels of vitamin E, it boosts the collagen responsible for saving your skin‘s elasticity. It hydrates and evens out the skin tone.

Our second ingredient is yogurt. It is important to use plain unsweetened yogurt because it contains beneficial live bacteria called probiotics. Yogurt is anti-inflammatory, fights acne and soothes rosacea and eczema. Yogurt is packed with zinc which stimulates tissue growth and regulates the production of oils. It contains calcium, vitamin B and lactic acid which is a great moisturizer and works for anti-aging purposes as well.

So all in all, yogurt hydrates the skin making it look younger, exfoliates and reduses acne and pimples. Yogurt has been used since ancient times. Everyone has heard of the famous milk bath Cleopatra used to make.

Last but not least is honey. To be honest I wasn‘t a fan of honey for a long time. It‘s just too sticky but in combination with other stuff is fine. And I kept reading and reading how crazy good honey was and finally decided to give it a try. And it did not disappoint.

Honey hydrates the skin in-depth, shrinks pores and gets rid of blackheads because it has antioxidant, antiseptic and antibacterial properties. It lightens scars caused by acne, clears clogged pores and reduces the appearance of pimples.

For the mask you need:

  • 2 tbsp of cocoa powder
  • ½ tbsp of plain yogurt
  • 1 tbsp of honey

Mix it well in a bowl and apply it on the face with clean fingers or a brush. Leave it on for 15 minutes and wash off with lukewarm water. If your skin appears redder than usual don’t worry. Cocoa stimulates blood circulation so it’s a good thing. The redness will fade away in a few minutes leaving your skin bright.

You can stop here or do an after mask self-love exercise.

Sit comfortably or lie down, but be careful not to fall asleep. Relax. If you find it difficult to relax, focus on your breathing. Now bring your attention to your skin.

If negative emotions emerge, do not suppress them. Observe them and don’t put a label on them. There are no bad or good thoughts, just thoughts. So watch them come and go and continue focusing on your breath.

Now imagine you have no pimples, scars or any skin problems. Your skin is beautiful, bright and soft. Touch your skin in your imagination, feel how nice it is. How smooth and clear it is.

Then bring your attention to a voice. Someone is speaking to you. Hear that someone complimenting you, be it a friend, partner or a parent. Listen to them saying “Wow,  your skin is great, what’s the secret?” Feel happy and stay in that relaxed state for a little while. When you’re ready to go back and open your eyes.

What you did was you entered a possible reality one that exists because you were, you felt all of the emotions. It is a part of you now whether you see it or not, and it is only a matter of time before it manifests in your current physical reality.

In times of anxiety and worry, come back to this feeling of victory, hear the compliments again and know that it is done and soon you will see signs of improvement and your skin will be just as you have imagined it.
