rice water acne hyperpigmentation

Rice water is something that I love to make when my skin is feeling a little bit dull and lifeless.

In the past, women working on rice fields washed their skin and hair with rice water to keep their skin clean, radiant, and look youthful.  Nowadays people still use rice to preserve and enhance their beauty.

Rice has many beneficial qualities

Rice is rich in ferulic acid. Ferulic acid is an antioxidant that has anti-inflammatory properties. Through studies, it has been demonstrated that ferulic acid can be used successfully as a sunscreen and is a natural whitening agent.

Rice is also full with vitamins C,B and E.

-high in minerals

– a natural UV protection

– removes dead skin cells

– soothes sun burns

lightens the skin

Making rice water is easy

You only need two ingredients – rice and water.

First method:

Measure one cup of rice and rinse it a few times to get rid of all the dirt and pesticides.

Then place the washed rice in a bigger container like a jar for example.

Add three cups of water to the thorougly washed rice. Cover the container and let it sit for 24 hours.

When the time has passed, drain the rice and store your rice water in the fridge.

Second method:

Another way to make rice water is to first boil the rice.

We will use the same measurements – 1 cup of rice for three cups of water.

Rinse the rice and let it come to a boil. Once boiling turn the stove off and leave it on for 5 minutes. Wait for it to cool down and transfer the rice into a container.

Then again let the rice water sit for 24 hours, drain and store in the fridge. That’s it.

Now, the measurements I use will last you for 7 days and you don’t need to make more than that because the rice water goes bad after a week.

Make sure to keep it in the fridge at all times and don‘t use it after a week has passed because you would be inviting bacteria and fungi on your face.

I don‘t know which method is better. I have used the first one, it takes me less time for preparation. If you’re enthusiastic and not lazy like me you can try both and decide which is better.

So please leave a comment down below letting me know which method you prefer – boiling or soaking your rice.

How do you apply your rice water?

You can rinse your face in the morning with rice water or use it as a toner to clean and refresh your face with a cotton pad.

After a few weeks of using the rice water, I noticed a significant change in my skin texture. My skin looked smoother and my tan was more even.

If you’ve been reading my blog, you know that I like to combine self-love exercises or affirmations with my skincare routine to get the most benefits out of it.

While I’m cleaning my face with the rice water I say a few positive affirmations like “My skin is smooth, soft and lovable. I love my reflection and I feel beautiful”.

I say them out loud with a feeling of joy and excitement. You can choose any affirmation you like or check my post that includes 20 positive affirmations for your skin.

Your skin is going to improve, don’t stress about it. I know you don’t like what you see in the mirror right now but choose to ignore what your reflection is telling you. Instead focus on how you want to feel.

When saying your positive affirmations allow yourself to believe in them even for a brief second.

Go on with your day and if at some point you feel bad remind yourself that your skin is already beautiful, that even if you’re not seeing it physically right now, it doesn’t mean that it’s never going to be true.
